Planned Giving

The Florence Griswold Museum invites you to join the Lieutenant River Society, an esteemed and growing membership of generous donors who have included the Museum in their estate plans.

Planned giving can be a creative vehicle for making thoughtful gifts that will help secure the financial future of the Museum for generations to come. Bequests, gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts are but some of the many planned giving opportunities available.

Janie Stanley, Director of Development would be pleased to provide you with information about the various options and confer with you, your attorney, accountant, trust officer or other advisers.

The Centennial Campaign

FGM is facing its greatest challenge and most profound opportunity as it accelerates into the final phase of the $16 million Centennial Campaign, the largest in the Museum's history. With support from individuals, corporations, foundations and governmental entities, the Museum has experienced five transformational years, resulting in the near completion of its Master Plan.

Important property has been acquired, historic gardens and pathways have been restored, the Hartman Education Center has been built and is flourishing with programs for all ages, and the new Krieble Gallery has opened to great acclaim. These expanding facilities have brought with them unprecedented growth in membership, programs, exhibitions, educational programs, and public outreach.

FGM is now in the final phase of its Master Plan by returning to where it all began -- the Griswold House, a National Historic Landmark and centerpiece of the Museum's collection. Not only will we tackle urgent restoration needs (such as outdated mechanical and electrical systems), but we will also use historic research to fully reinterpret the interior as it would have appeared during the heyday of the Lyme Art Colony, circa 1910. The Museum is also seeking to raise significant endowment funds for the care and management of our collections and properties.

As the Museum seeks to bring to completion this Centennial Campaign, funding is critical. Building on Miss Florence's legacy, perhaps you will consider partnering with us in this landmark endeavor and help us meet our goal -- for the Florence Griswold Museum to serve as a center for inspiration and learning.

Campaign gifts may be made in the form of cash, check, credit card, planned gifts, pledges, or appreciated stock. Major gifts will be permanently recognized in the Museum's Circles of Giving.
