September 12 & 13, 2012, 1:30-3pm
American Art & the Hudson River School of Painting
A discussion of American landscape traditions and the Hudon River School in On Hudson: Highlights from the Albany Institute of History & Art followed by a hands-on landscape painting project.

October 24 & 25, 2012, 1:30-3pm
Wee Faerie Village in the Land of Picture Making
A guided tour of the museum grounds featuring the wee faerie dwellings where the faeries that inspire the paintings live followed by a hands-on creative wee faerie project.

November 14 & 15, 2012, 1:30-3pm
Presidential Impressionism:
The Paintings of First Lady Ellen Axson Wilson

A guided tour of the exhibition of the art by President Woodrow Wilson’s first wife The Art of First Lady Ellen Axson Wilson followed by a self-portrait art project.

December 19 & 20, 2012, 1:30-3pm
The Artistry of the Artist Tree: Palettes in Perspective
A guided tour of the galleries with an emphasis on Miss Florence’s Artist Tree decorated with over 140 artistic palettes followed by a painting on a palette project.

January 23 & 24, 2013, 1:30-3pm
A is for Architecture: The Meetinghouse in New England
A guided tour of the exhibition White on White: Churches of Rural New England followed by a hands-on monochromatic assemblage project.

February 13 & 14, 2013, 1:30-3pm
Miss Florence and the Artists of Old Lyme
A guided tour of the Griswold boardinghouse with readings from Arthur Heming’s book about the Lyme Art Colony followed by a partner painting project based on the painted panels.

March 13 & 14, 2013, 1:30-3pm
Sculpture: The Original 3-D Art Experience
A guided tour of the sculpture created by Mary Knollenberg in the galleries with an emphasis on materials and form followed by a hands-on creative collage project.

April 17 & 18, 2013, 1:30-3pm
Oh Canada! Arthur Heming, Wilderness Artist
A guided tour of the nature-based scenes by Lyme Art Colony artist Arthur Heming followed by a hands-on creative nature printing project.

May 15 & 16, 2013, 1:30-3pm
Making Art Inside or Out: Plein-Air Painting vs. In the Studio
A guided tour of the Chadwick Studio and discussion of the tools & techniques of the Lyme painters followed by a outdoor sketch recreated indoors in paint.

June 12 & 13, 2013, 1:30-3pm
Kaleidoscopes in Bloom: The Griswold Flower Gardens
A guided tour of the flower-filled gardens and grounds of the Museum followed by a hands-on creative watercolor and pastel project.
