During the Magic of Christmas you can enjoy...

Fantasy Trees Fresh from the Garden (Not Your Garden Variety Decorations!)
The display of lavish Christmas trees inspired by gardens old and new features the Garden of Earthly Delights, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the Sparkle of Madison Square Garden, and Giardino Italiano.

Magic of ChristmasMiss Florence’s Artist Tree
New palettes this year bring the total to 85 artists from across the country who have donated works to decorate the 12-foot tree – a holiday icon for the region.

 

 

Magic of ChristmasIn the Griswold House
See how families celebrated around 1910, as the historically accurate decorations reveal homespun creativity and the use of some surprising materials.

 

 

 



Outdoor Sculptures

Artist Mundy Hepburn adds his distinctive touch with glass sculptures decorating the trellises in front of the gallery.

This year’s special feature is our newsignature tea exclusively blended for the Museum by Sundial Gardens in Higganum, CT. We will be offering an assortment of tea sandwiches provided by Savory of Old Saybrook, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a wonderful assortment of sweets.

Joy in the Making

Every Sunday visitors enjoy hands-on art-making fun for all ages! You'll have great items to use as ornaments, gifts, or just a reminder of a very special day!

 


Expanded Holiday Hours
Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 1-5pm.
The Museum will be closed Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22), Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), Christmas Day (Dec. 25) New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), and New Year’s Day (Jan 1).

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides with Santa Ornament-making

Start your holidays off  the day after Thanksgiving with a bit of old-fashioned cheer. Climb aboard Foxglove Farm’s charming wagonette for a horse-drawn ride on the Museum’s grounds with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Candy canes offered to all riders! Afterwards, make a gingerbread ornament in the Education Center.

Enjoy an entertaining and educational afternoon with Kandie Carle, aka The Victorian Lady, who will dress before our very eyes as she prepares for a make-believe Christmastime tea with Miss Florence.  Using vintage clothing and authentically reproduced undergarments and accessories, Carle adds humor, history and intriguing anecdotes about fashion, home life and etiquette of men and women during the Edwardian Era, circa 1910.
